It's easy to modify backward and forward from walker to ride-on, and my son does not appear to have much hassle mountain climbing on and off the seat (though he hasn't fairly figured out tips on how to push on hellos own). It moves actually fast as a walker and could be very slippery on tile/vinyl grounding- so be careful and maintain just about your baby when you are now not on carpet. I to find carpet is easiest for this toy. The music is cute, the light-up elefun button entertaining for my son, the engine sounds fascinating to him, and he loves to honk the horn.
